About

In a nutshell: designer by trade, writer at heart, cynic by disposition, optimist by practice, and hopeless romantic by default.

The longer version? Ok.

I’ve been told I’m fabulously complex and interesting. That’s probably one of the nicest personality compliments I’ve gotten that is still somewhat accurate from my point of view. I’m a hodgepodge of so many different things, I don’t really know where to start. But here it goes, I am: notoriously goofy, occasionally sarcastic (I’m known for my surprising one-liner zingers), independent, non-drama appreciator, not very ‘girly’ in the stereotypical sense, a semi-strict grammar nazi, enjoyer of good conversation and clever wit, somewhat stubborn, have a tendency to overanalyze things that I care about deeply, and my mom and sisters call me ‘the sweet one.’ I’m a cynic/realist trying to be more of an optimist. ‘Morning’ is a dirty word to me. If you ask for the brutal truth, I will give it to you (and sometimes give it without you asking). I can be shy and quiet at first, but become increasingly outgoing the more I know you. I’m definitely weird, but in a quirky/endearing way rather than creepy (or so I’ve been told).

That’s what I am. Here’s what I do/like: photography, art & design, hiking, swimming, kayaking, tubing, scuba diving, reading sci-fi/fantasy books, reading and creative writing in general, cats, music (playing and listening), computers/Internet, chocolate, being on under or near the ocean, flying, Pilates, all things Celtic and Greek, nature, traveling to new places, sunny days, really big storms as long as I’m not driving in them, theatre and films, Australia, star-gazing, hanging out w/ friends, etc.

Writing-wise, I’m definitely a fiction gal. ‘Fiction’ can take any form from poetry to short story to screenplay to novel (I am currently working on ALL of those). I self-published a book of poetry back in 2007 (seeĀ Penchant) and had a few poems in school and regional collections back in the day. I intend to ramp up both my writing output, and my entries into contests and submissions for publication.
